Proudest athletic accomplishment?
Skiing to both North and South poles while raising money for charities; developing weather beacons placed on the Arctic Ocean that send climate change data to scientists around the world; my Education Program, www.iceaxekids.com.

Superstitions for training or competition?
Be mentally and physically prepared and everything else will fall into place.

What characteristics do you most respect in your competitors?
Dedication.

If you were not a pro athlete, what would you do professionally?
Don’t know, I am a dreamer and still not sure what I want to do when I grow up.

Song title that best fits your personality/spirit?
One Love by Bob Marley.

How do you reward yourself when you reach a key goal?
A bottle of French Champagne.

If you were a contestant on Survivor, what would be your one comfort item from home?
I am a real life Survivor.

What’s the most creative way you’ve ever carried your GU?
In the flask on every polar expedition I have ever been on. It is my secret weapon for energy!

Personal causes you’re involved in?
United Nations Millennium Development Goals, Ice Axe Foundation’s Education Program.

Three things people don’t know about you?
I am married. I have 3 children. I carried the Olympic Torch in London for the Beijing Olympics.
